Cloyster card – the fortress in a shell

This Japanese Cloyster card 015/060 (パルシェン / Cloyster) comes from sm1S Collection Sun (2016), the very first set of the Sun & Moon era, reprinted in the West in the Sun & Moon base set (034/149). Yoshinobu Saito draws it closed up underwater, spikes raised. Its shell is so hard that not even an explosion can dent it, the Pokédex assures us.

• Stage 1 Pokémon (evolves from Shellder), Water type, 120 HP, Grass weakness ×2
• First attack: 30+ damage; flip a coin: if heads, your opponent’s Active Pokémon is now Paralysed; if tails, this attack does 30 more damage
• Second attack: 80 damage; during your opponent’s next turn, this Pokémon takes 20 less damage
