Magikarp – Kanto’s most famous leap
This Japanese Magikarp card 129/165 (コイキング / Magikarp) comes from sv2a Pokémon Card 151 (2023), the tribute set to the original 151 Pokémon of Kanto, released in the West simply as 151. Kouki Saitou freezes the red fish mid-jump above the torrent, whiskers in the wind – a weak and pitiful Pokémon that rarely clears more than two metres in a jump, the Pokédex teases gently. A cult favourite among collectors, precisely for that reason.

- Basic Pokémon, Water type, 30 HP
- Attack: flip a coin until you get tails, and draw a card for each heads
- Rarity C, number 129/165, illustration by Kouki Saitou, ©2023

Its legendary evolution is in the shop: Gyarados holo 130/165 – and to stay among the fish, Seaking swims in the same set.
The shop’s other illustration leaps at the foot of a waterfall: Magikarp 022/073 from Triplet Beat.
