Houndoom holo 103/184 – VMAX Climax (s8b) – Japanese Pokémon Card

Houndoom holo card – the engine of Single Strike decks

This holographic Japanese Houndoom card 103/184 (ヘルガー / Houndoom, ICHIGEKI Single Strike banner) comes from s8b VMAX Climax (2021), the “high class” set at the end of the Sword & Shield era – it is a reprint of the card released in the West in Battle Styles (096/163). Ryota Murayama makes the horned hound roar in a blaze of light – its mournful howls once led people to take this Pokémon for a messenger from the beyond, the Pokédex tells us. Its Ability, for its part, powered every Single Strike deck in the format.

Houndoom card specifications

• Stage 1 Pokémon (evolves from Houndour), Darkness type, 130 HP, Single Strike style
• Ability “Single Strike Roar”: once during your turn, search your deck for a Single Strike Energy card and attach it to one of your Single Strike Pokémon, then shuffle your deck; then put 2 damage counters on that Pokémon
• Attack: 50 damage
• Holo rarity, number 103/184, illustration by Ryota Murayama, ©2021

It takes charge of the shop’s Single Strike dojo: the puppy Rockruff from the same VMAX Climax set is already training there, under the eye of the karate master Bruno. And the other s8b holo in this shipment, the sage Oranguru holo, watches it all from his canopy.

Also worth a look in the shop: budget-friendly Japanese cards.
