Mela SAR, the chase card of Ancient Roar

This Mela Special Art Rare (Meloco in French), head of Team Star’s Fire Crew in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, is the flagship card of the sv4K “Ancient Roar” expansion (古代の咆哮), released in Japan on 27 October 2023. Secret rare numbered 092/066. The illustration signed rika shows her seated on an industrial walkway with her Torkoal, in a full-card watercolour style.

A full art exclusive to Japan

In the international version (Paradox Rift), Mela exists only as an uncommon card: no full art version was printed outside Japan. It is the most valuable card in Ancient Roar, to the point of being worth more on its own than a sealed display, and one of the most sought-after SAR Trainer cards of the Scarlet & Violet era.

The card in play

Trainer card – Supporter. Can only be played if one of your Pokémon was Knocked Out during your opponent’s last turn. Take a Basic Fire Energy card from your discard pile and attach it to one of your Pokémon, then draw cards until you have 6 cards in your hand.
