SAR – Special Art Rare
Japanese SAR Pokémon Cards: The Special Art Rares
SAR (Special Art Rare) cards first appeared in Japan in late 2022 with VSTAR Universe. They show a Pokémon-ex, a Pokémon V or a Supporter in a large illustrated scene that fills the whole card, with a raised texture: they are often the most sought-after cards of an expansion.
A SAR card bears the letters “SAR” at the bottom left and a number higher than the expansion’s total, placed after the AR and SR cards (for example 200/187). In the West, its equivalent is the Special Illustration Rare rarity.
Our SAR cards come in particular from VSTAR Universe (s12a), Terastal Festival ex (sv8a) and MEGA Brave (m1L). To compare, also check out our AR (Art Rare) cards, SR (Super Rare) cards and UR (Ultra Rare) cards. SAR Supporters can also be found among our Japanese Trainer cards. All the rarity codes are explained in our guide Japanese Pokémon Card Rarity, and every rarity is gathered on the Japanese Pokémon cards by rarity page.
All our Japanese SAR Pokémon cards are authentic copies sold individually, with real photos of the exact card you will receive and protected shipping from France. SAR cards that have already passed through the shop include Deoxys VMAX, Zeraora VMAX and Kieran.
