Frett amiibo card no. 445 – Animal Crossing Series 5
Frett (Foufou in French) is a yellow dog with a Labrador look, bushy eyebrows and black-tipped ears, dressed in his grey checked shirt. Cranky by temperament, he is the village elder: easy-going and a little grumpy, he gets on mostly with villagers of his own age. His French name comes from the adjective readily attached to a dog’s temperament. In New Horizons, his hobby is music and he can burst into song anywhere, without needing a radio.
On the Japanese card, he is called “Champagne”
No mistake in the reference: the name printed on the front is シャンペン, the Japanese transcription of “champagne”. Each language has given him a different name – Foufou in French, Frett in English, Ulises in Spanish, Lionello in Italian, Jupp in German. This is indeed card no. 445, and in the game on a French console, the character will be called Foufou.
A football fan back after eighteen years
Frett had only appeared in Doubutsu no Mori e+, the 2003 Japanese edition, where his profile already described him as unable to miss a live match: win or lose, he makes a racket – more for the pleasure of getting worked up than to cheer on his team. He then disappeared from the series until his return in New Horizons with the 2.0 update of November 2021. In the Happy Home Paradise expansion, he will ask you for a supporter’s den, with ball and big screen included.
Invite Frett to your island
Frett is a villager: scan his card from the Nook Stop terminal to invite him to your campsite, then ask him to move in after several visits. As amiibo are not region-locked, the card scans on every Switch console, including French ones, and the dialogue stays in the language of your console.
