Roswell amiibo card no. 447 – Animal Crossing Series 5
Roswell is a chocolate-brown alligator entirely devoted to the theme of extraterrestrials. His name refers to the Roswell incident, the flying saucer said to have crashed in New Mexico in 1947; the pale circles dotting his body echo the pattern of crop circles; and his eyes, instead of blinking, rotate like screws to reveal robotic-looking orange pupils. His Japanese name, ピロンコン, is simply the sound effect associated with flying saucers. He is also the only smug alligator in the whole series: polite, talkative, a touch vain.
A villager absent for eighteen years
Roswell had only appeared in Doubutsu no Mori e+, the 2003 Japanese edition in which you had to scan his e-Reader card to bring him to the island. He then disappeared from the series for almost twenty years, until his return in Animal Crossing: New Horizons with the 2.0 update of November 2021. The amiibo card series 5, released for the occasion, is the one that brings together these newcomers – and it is the most recent in the collection.
Invite Roswell to your island
Roswell is a villager: in New Horizons, scan his card from the Nook Stop terminal to invite him to your campsite, then ask him to move in after several visits. In the Happy Home Paradise expansion, he will ask you for a workshop in which to study his mysteries – flying saucer, forbidden altar and glowing moss pool included.
Japanese version, compatible with your Switch
This card is a Japanese version. Only the name printed on the front is in Japanese: amiibo are not region-locked, the card scans on every Switch console, including French ones, and the character keeps his name, Roswell, which is the same in French and English.
