AR – Art Rare
Japanese AR Pokémon Cards: The Art Rares
AR (Art Rare) cards were born with VSTAR Universe in 2022. They show a classic Pokémon, often a Basic or an evolution, in an illustration that spills beyond the usual frame: a format much loved by collectors who focus on a particular Pokémon or illustrator.
AR cards are numbered just after the set total (for example 065/063) and marked “AR” at the bottom of the card. Their Western equivalent is the Illustration Rare.
Our AR cards come in particular from Heat Wave Arena (sv9a), Mask of Change (sv6) and White Flare (sv11W). To compare, also see our SAR (Special Art Rare) cards, CHR (Character Rare) cards and SR (Super Rare) cards. All the rarity codes are explained in our guide Japanese Pokémon Card Rarity, and every rarity is gathered on the Japanese Pokémon Cards by Rarity page.
All our Japanese AR Pokémon cards are authentic copies sold individually, with real photos of the exact card you will receive and protected shipping from France. AR cards that have already passed through the shop include: Snover, Floragato and Tatsugiri.
